“As long as your life’s goal is the perfection of the soul, every moment and every situation is an opportunity for learning and growth. However, you may choose to consciously facilitate the process of the soul’s perfection by pursuing these three studies: study of principle, study of practice, and study of living.” (”The Twelve Enlightenments for Healing Society,” Ilchi Lee, pg. 107).
One of my favorite chapters in Ilchi Lee’s book, “The Twelve Enlightenments” is the 11th Enlightenment; section entitled “Three Studies to Help Perfect the Soul.” I have heard the same question asked by members to masters many times - Members are asking for the reason why they should be studying Tao? What are the benefits? I think this section of the book answers these questions very well.
There is a certain message that you send to Heaven, a sincerity that you demonstrate through your actions, when you make the decision to include perfection of the soul as your life’s goal. The laws of attraction are moved into proper action to support and to multiply the energy you give to achieve this goal. So what exactly is being supported and multiplied when soul growth is the goal you choose act upon? If we can accept the premise that Earth is school, and Humans are students, and Heaven is the Principal’s Office, let’s see:
Ilchi Lee provides us with the outline for our class work, as follows:
1) “Study of principle signifies the realization of the truth.”
2) “Study of practice means internalizing the truth in your body.”
3) “Study of living refers to actualizing the truth in everyday living.”
Okay, so the three studies are principle, practice, and living in our Earth school . . . I would like to share with you a personal experience I had with these three studies as a student. I was fortunate to study and learn the Chun Bu Kyung, then learn the 81 postures of the Chun Bu Shin Gong as I attended Tao Lectures. Through learning the words and meanings behind each character of the Chun Bu Kyung, I was able to know through my heart the reality of self and accomplish the first study. The next step was trying to take this reality and internalize it in my body, and as I learned the 81 postures of Chun Bu Shin Gong, it provided the action necessary to accomplish the second study. The accomplishment of the third study is something I consider to be a soul’s never ending journey, and a very good reason to continue to study Tao.
It is really a very nice cycle: We grow and mature our soul through trying to live truth based in reality everyday. As we learn through each day’s action, we find a strong direction for our life. The study of Tao could also be considered a great way for visits to the principal’s office to be wonderful experiences for the students!
I hope you will consider attending Tao Lectures as well for the many benefits these studies in truth can provide to you on your soul’s never-ending journey of growth, with a focus on completion. (With love always, Sherilyn)
