A while ago I felt so depressed that I spent hours crying. But something very interesting happened. At one moment I was able to feel my soul. And it felt very compassionate, like it was saying yes it is terrible, and yes it is sad but at the same time it was happy. So here I was crying with this very soft and compassionate yet happy presence inside of me. It did help me get out of my emotions pretty quickly.

Another time I felt really sick. Stuffed nose, headache low fever I definitely did not feel good. And again I could feel her soothing presence, like yes you are sick, you need to take care of your body so it gets better. But can we sing for a while? I felt quite ridiculous, singing with a voice of the crow, but it did feel good and it made my soul even happier.

What I noticed is that when I am deeply disturbed or confused by something and I go for a class I can more easily access her. I would guess that while my thinking brain and my ego are engrossed in stretching and feeling my body, my soul gets to communicate more clearly and without any screening. So I go to the class with this chaos inside and come out feeling a deep tranquility.

So I made it a conscious effort to talk to my soul every day. Even if it is just “thank you for being with me” before I go to sleep.

Dahn Yoga members and employees alike are strongly motivated by their own sense of enjoyment and commitment. Meditation is practiced by various groups, both religious and non religious. It involves seclusion of an individual or a group of persons and seeking to focus on the higher purpose in life.

There are various ways of meditating. Some of the ways are inspired by the religious teachings or traditions passed down the generations. More often than not, it involves a quiet moment and focus on a single thing. It may also be referred to as prayers offered in serenity.

Among the Buddhists, meditation is inspired by Buddha himself (Siddhartha Gautama) who is said to have gotten inspiration for the religion’s teaching while meditating under the Bodhi tree. The followers are inspired to conduct their meditation in similar style. The goal in Buddha meditation is to be able to focus on one thing as it brings you enlightenment. During the meditation exercise, the mediators focus their attention on their god and you to keep off other thoughts. It equally leads to enlightening and is called samatha. Vipassana is a form of meditation that seeks to reveal the truth in nature. It gives perspective to the individual that hopefully results in harmony with the environment and the neighbors.

The Christians have meditation though also referred to as prayers by some members. There is a difference between the two in that meditation often involves quite prayers offered in quite places. There are special groups that have been founded to meditate. A group of monks formed by John Main, a Benedictine monk 1975 has emerged to be on 1975 has emerged as a strong meditation group. Other meditation forms include recounting of the certain words as is the case in rosary prayers. The memorization of biblical verses and recounting them over a period of time or chanting specific prayers is also a common form of meditation.

In the Muslim tradition, there are various schools of meditations. These include Tafakkur which is a meditation to reflect on the universe. It enables one to be become self aware and also aware of god. The individual also gains inner growth through learning to be submissive to both men and god.

Whatever the form of meditation, there is a common factor, that of having to seek a higher being. It takes seeking the inner purpose and seeking connection with cosmic. The results are often admirable as it leads to more respectful, tolerant and humble men and women.

This is why I believe we need a drastic educational revolution. We need reform of a whole new kind—not the kind that has to do with test scores and grades but the kind of educational reform that will empower children to find their own happiness. The current system of competition and evaluation is unnecessarily disemboweling, even for the few who excel within the system. This is why I developed Brain Education.

The objective of Brain Education is to give people the ability to use their brain operating system effectively. We get an owner’s manual when we buy a car, a computer, or any other technological gadget, but unfortunately we do not get an owner’s manual for our most complex technology—the brain. It would be great if we received one when we were born, wouldn’t it? It would be great if we could just look in a book to find out how to manage our emotions, how to maximize our abilities, and how to find peace in a hectic world.

No one has to debate about the Tightness or wrongness of these traits because your brain knows instinctively which ones promote health and which detract. Essentially, your brain craves positive vibrations that help keep it healthy, just as your body craves the nutrients that promote health.

Developing Infinite Mind You may wonder why humanity so often chooses negative consciousness vibrations when the brain’s natural inclination is to choose positive ones. In fact, when you look at the events of history and the current state of the world, you might be inclined to think that we choose negatively more often than not.

Basically, humanity has become addicted to negative information. At some point in our development, perhaps through over dependence on our rational minds, we convinced ourselves that life is all about competition and acquisition. We concocted myths about the scarcity of goods, and we invented the need to judge ourselves superior to our neighbors.

Once I could feel energy as a fire between my hands. And just like fire in a fireplace behaves that’s what I felt between my hands. But not the heat. It was very gentle warmth.

Another time I felt my Seventh Chakra opening and something like a huge tree, green and purple intertwined, was making it’s root deep inside me.

Recently I felt the energy moving through my hands all the way up to my chest, making my heart very warm. And then it started to slowly pulsate.

I came to Dahn Yoga to prepare my body for major surgery. I am a cancer survivor and I was preparing for an operation that would place tissue expanders in my body. Kristen from Dahn Yoga by Ilchi Lee would massage and manipulate the area to ensure goo blood flow. One side of my chest had radiation so the Doctor was not sure how pliable the skin would be. After I had my surgery, my surgeon told me how healthy the skin was.

Unfortunately, I suffered from a frozen shoulder after the surgery, but thank god Kristen was able to help me through the whole experience. Kristen gave me deep tissue massage which helped with pain management and healing. I credit Kristen and Dahn Yoga with my speedy recovery. I highly recommend Dahn Yoga for anyone and if you are suffering from any illness or pain, I feel confident that the wonderful and caring staff at Dahn Yoga will be able to help you stay healthy and bring relief to pain you may be experiencing.

Your condition – physically/medically, mentally/emotionally – before you started the program? Prior to starting the formal Outreach Program (7 years ago) , I was physically a mess. Although I was on medication for high blood pressure and high cholesterol, I was seeing a cardiologist twice a year and her concern was always evident. Mentally without knowledge of the body and mind connection and very little understanding about focusing inside of myself, I had time only for judgments, gossip, complaining.

Ilchi Lee

Your condition – physically/medically, mentally/emotionally – now or after completing the program? The Outreach program has no completion. It is without end. I can explain that seven years later my physical condition is excellent. My medical condition is checked each year: cardiologist, internist, gynecologist…. Each of these entities gives me “thumbs up”. I have just completed my yearly check up and everything is excellent. At 66 years this is what I want to hear. Mentally/emotionally, this is a journey that too has no end. As I grow in working Outreach programs, I learn more about myself. I particular learn how to stay very much in my core, dahn jon, Each time that I am teaching a group of individuals I am there to exchange pure energy. From me to the individuals. My passion to achieve this is as deep as my practice. If I am focused, sincere and my heart is open, the individuals feel this and accept this in my teaching class.

What happened in between – or what about the program or other realizations – describe the experience, as you are aware of it – internally and externally?

Prior to seriously focusing on Outreach work, I merely put my toes into the projects I took. I did not give my full true self. I had too much fear, too much ego, too much emotions. I continued to work my physical body in class at least three to 5 days a week. I continued to take specialized programs, Healer School, PBM, Dahn Yoga Chun Myuong training, Chakra training, Brain Wave Vibration training, AWS, Brain Respiration programs, etc., etc. My vision from day one, over 7 years ago, was to give what I learn at Dahn Yoga back to my community. My community consisted of many tentacles.

As a 12 step member, substance abusers were definitely one tentacle of my community. I would receive calls over the years from Program Directors of Senior Assisted Living environments and be asked to give class to Seniors. Although there is great satisfaction in bringing the “successful aging” teachings to this environment, it was not my original vision. I would continuously send proposals to different D&A rehabilitation centers. It took almost 5 years before one responded with a full heart and eager to have Dahn Foundation services. I truly believe that everything that I need will come to me, if I put the work into it. I have at the present time three (3) Outreach programs : **young people mandated to a specialized D&A program, **substance abusers with HIV and **unwed mothers . This is now the path that I envisioned. This is the path where I can grow my soul and give back to those that I love.

The greatest reward is how I internally feel. How can I explain the process that makes my heart so big that I feel my body will burst. How can I explain a smile on my face that comes from knowing; “ah this is why I came to this earth, this is my purpose”. How can I explain by giving this service to others, fear, anger, jealousy, uncertainty is released and replaced with Happiness, Smile and Peace (HSP phenomenon). These are small words to explain big changes.

Thank you for this vehicle to express some of my thoughts.

I just discovered another habit I need to brake. To me, winter has always been this freezing part of year. I often failed to observe it’s beauty because I always felt so cold. It seemed like I would deep freeze in November and thaw sometime in April. Now I see that I tense my body so that I can feel warmer, and I kept it tensed for this long period. It does the exactly opposite of what I’m instinctively looking for. Instead of making me a little warmer it obstructs the energy flow and I feel more stressed and cold. Definitely something I need to stop doing.

What I noticed recently is that my attitude to pain has changed. I used to be frightened with it so I would make my body tense and very stiff. And off course I would take a bunch of painkillers.
Now I try to figure out if there is anything I can do and then act on it. But if there is not, then I just focus on breathing and relaxing. It seems to me that the pain subsides a lot quicker then before and it doesn’t leave as much damage.
