We had such a beautiful training with Aaron-nim. It was a very short noticed and I had to literary jump through hoops to make it but it was worth it.

We learned that there are four basic ways of doing dahn mu do forms. We should do them very slowly at first. I tried it with a sword and it really is a completely different feeling. Second we do the forms with a lot of energy or with holding the postures for a longer period. Third we try to the form very fast and then we do it smoothly.

So far I’ve been doing the forms with holding the postures longer/or with putting a lot of energy into it (like with pinches and kicks) but slow and smooth I never tried before. It is challenging because my mind wants to hurry in both. The smooth part is very difficult because I guess you really need to know the form very well and be very focused at the same time.

All in all I feel so grateful for the opportunity to attend this training.

Dahn mu do really changes my energy very quickly and very significantly. After only 2 hours of practice my accumulation posture felt so different from usual. Much deeper with an amazing feeling of energy.

Thank you to all Dahn masters for making this short training possible!

I view your brain stem as a marvelous antenna that can send and receive messages to and from the world around you. This medium of communication is called Chun-ji-ki-un, or cosmic energy because you are connected to all other living beings.

This song sums up all we need to transform our lives and the world—and it encompasses the highest purpose of Brain Wave Vibration. I hope that Brain Wave Vibration can give you the distance you need to see your own life, and all the problems that come with human existence, from a distance—even if only for a few moments at a time. As you step away from your constant thinking and continual worries, I think you will be able to see the blessings that lie in everything. From that place you will begin to see the beautiful perfection of it all and will come closer to the perfection that already lies within you.

This is a beautiful and hopeful time to be alive. We are at a turning point, and your contribution to the world is needed more than ever. All of your struggles, all the struggles of your ancestors, all the struggles of all life have led to this moment right now. You are the culmination of life’s great yearning; you are the hope of the world. through this cosmic energy, you are an integral player in creating a better, more sustainable way of life on this planet.

This has been a very enlightening year for me. Last May I was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. Since then I have had 2 surgeries and 16 chemotherapy treatments. Currently, I am receiving chemo treatments.
Before any surgery I knew I had to increase my immune system so I put together a plan. I started acupuncture; took healings from my JWJN and received healings from MSNs and healers. I felt so much love and energy. At one time I remember feeling as though my body was lifted off the ground. This was a point of change for me. My goal was to get my body, mind and spirit in the best possible condition before I started this journey. This is a journey I am not walking by myself. I have been so blessed with strong support and love from friends, family and the Dahn family.

I remember sitting in the doctor’s office while he listed all the things that could go wrong during surgery. My friend who came with me took notes and yet all we thought about was how much weight I would lose as a result of the chemo therapy. We really didn’t pay too much attention to any of the options other then the best case scenario. My focus was to stay positive. Turn around any information from the doctors to be positive in nature. Unfortunately the surgery was not what I hoped for. The doctors were unable to do anything but biopsy the tumors and close me up. It was very upsetting. All that I had practiced and trusted now had to be used to pull myself up and start all over again.

In the beginning, during the chemo treatments, the most difficult thing for me was to close my eyes. I could not focus on anything. My mind darted from here to there with nothing important. It was only when they gave me benyadral that I could doze off and even then I would fight it. It was almost as though I was afraid to close my eyes and let time go by. Thoughts would come into my head. I had so much of nothing to say.

My friend who came along with me would have me breathe along with her, she would whisper in my ear to visualize the chemotherapy as a white light going into my body to heal me. This was when I began to use the tool of visualization. There were so many times that ugly voice screams in my head “you have cancer, you are going to die”. In my heart, in my soul I knew that I was not going to die. Yet, it is hard work to keep that voice at bay. Everyday I use what I have learned from having been in a 12 step program and the principles of Dahn Yoga.
I feel as though this has been my first year in Dahn Yoga. Even after 4 years, I feel like a beginner. I finally took initial awakening. It was so enlightening. It’s only now that I understand and listen to my body and focus on my breath during training an during my daily living.
I have given myself a daily routine: morning bowing, Un Ki Sum Bub and Dahn Mu Do practice. I practice what I learned at PBM training. All of which has helped to change my energy. All the training and help from loved ones has helped me stay in the moment, which is a 24hr job. Although there are people who come into my life with negative energy, I work hard to keep my positive thinking. Visualization is a magnificent tool to use at this time.

I have always struggled with the fact that I did not have a vision. I now have a vision to take care of myself and to share my hope, strength and experience with others who are in the fight for their life with cancer.
I am so very grateful and blessed

With all my love and gratitude to Ilchi Lee

I figured out this training was doing something magnificent for my body 8 months after I started it. We had a once a week Dahn Mu Do class that was so very hard on me but yet I didn’t want to miss it.By the end of summer our yearly ritual rug washing was due. I got 2 very large rugs, like 12’x9’, and a couple of small ones and I wash them once a year by hand. None of the doctored things seemed to work quite as well so my family stuck to the old way. It was usually a whole day job that would leave me exhausted for a couple of days. So, I started with it and to my surprise I got everything done in 3 hours. I felt tired but it was a good feeling of something accomplished.Amazing! In eight months this training basically renewed my body!

I learned this form after I got back from Dahn-Mu-Do school. Have to admit that I did not know much about it. The schedule was not a very convenient for me but it was what it was and I was diligent. The main point I learned was that if you kept doing the form you could enter the state of nothingness.

It is kind of a complicated form and so I kept doing it from time to time just to be able to remember the sequence. That is how I discovered its magnificence apart from entering Mu-Ah.

If I was not in very good place energy wise and I had to do some healing, Un-Gi-Sun-Bub would do the trick. Preferably three times but even once would start the energy flow. If I needed to practice and was time limited I would just do Un-Gi-Sun-Bub. A perfect form for me.

This last week was very stressful for me. When I tried to do some exercises I found out that my shoulders were stiff as they have not been in a long, long time. So I tried stretches, all that I could remember. The stiffness stayed. I tried Dahn-Mu-Do shoulder exercises and the stiffness lingered on. And then I tried Un-Gi-Sun-Bub. I have to admit I was very curious to find out if it would help or not so I watched my shoulders closely. And it proved once again it was really the magnificent form. I did it only once and my shoulders felt like a huge stone was lifted from them. In terms of percentage I would have to say that if the stretches and Dahn-Mu-do exercise helped 15% this helped 75%.

I felt so grateful to all the Masters that made it possible form to learn this form. And if you get a chance make sure to jump on it.

DahnMuDo is an energy-based, non-combative, healing martial art, with roots dating back thousands of years into Korean history. In Korean, “Dahn” means energy. “Mu” means “martial,” or “limitless” and “Do (Tao)” means, “the way,” or, “the ultimate truth.DahnMuDo is therefore also known as “The Art of Being Limitless. Its mind-body training methods combine martial arts movements with universal energy principles to help practitioners circulate blood and energy through the body, and recover the natural balance and rhythm of the body and mind. Its goal lies in training the body and mind to become one.

How is DahnMuDo Different From Other Martial Arts?
While similar to other Asian practices such as QiGong, in terms of circulating energy throughout the body, a senior trainer at the DahnMuDo Headquarters, Master Kang, explains, “This is a very different kind of martial art.” Rather than focusing on the external environment, i.e. one’s opponent, or on technical, difficult techniques as with Qigong, DahnMuDo encourages participants to focus inside, to develop their own internal energy and power. Therefore, anyone can enjoy it, from age 8 to age 88. DahnMuDo focuses on the 18 major joints of the body, adjusting the hip joints, pelvis and spine. Correcting the physiological structure of the body allows fresh, oxygenated blood to circulate properly to all joints and internal organs, improving one’s overall health and sense of well-being. As a result, DahnMuDo practice can be extremely beneficial for those with weak or stiff joints, those who want to improve their balance or lose weight and those who simply want to feel more comfortable in their bodies without some of the physical contact elements found in Qigong.

One Posture Can Change Your Life Every posture in DahnMuDo has a practical application to the every day life of the practitioner that can help them achieve their personal goals. For example, ‘One Foot Upright Stance’ stimulates left-right brain activity. This can be particularly effective for those who have to remember or study a lot. ‘One Line Stance’ creates a very prompt response in the brain and quickly stimulates mind-body communication. This posture can dramatically improve the brain’s response time.He adds, “Your boss will be impressed with your quick thinking!Similarly, the other postures and practices of DahnMuDo training have underlying benefits that will ultimately improve a person’s productivity, effectiveness and confidence. “DahnMuDo is actually leadership training,” says Kang. While many students have previously practiced QiGong and other styles of yoga or martial arts, DahnMuDo students are noticing significant changes in their physical body conditions shortly after beginning DahnMuDo training. According to Anjanita Mahadoo, a practitioner from Garden Grove, California, who recently completed DahnMuDo Instructor training in Sedona, Arizona,

“My spine is straightening and my posture is improving. Most of my back pains are gone. I can do more with my body than I ever thought I was capable of doing.” And another recent graduate of DahnMuDo Instructor training, Leanne Garn, age 60, shares, “Thanks to DahnMuDo, I have been able to sleep through the night for the first time in 40 years, and the pain from my carpal tunnel syndrome has disappeared.”

More Than Just Physical Training
DahnMuDo’s benefits extend beyond physical and practical, traditionally asocciated with Qigong. Dahnmudo allows members to experience deep meditation, and often, through self-reflection, achieve personal transformation. Kang adds, “As you continue practicing DahnMuDo, you will find yourself absorbed in very deep consciousness, very deep peace within. You will naturally begin to wonder how you can apply this to your every day life. DahnMuDo is a bridge between feeling a sense of deep spirituality and the manifestation of outer, social success in your life.

Another senior trainer, Master Jang, explains such a transformation, “Before beginning DahnMuDo training, I practiced various other forms of martial arts for 14 years. After starting DahnMuDo, my point of view shifted from how I can be better at fighting with an opponent to how I can heal others, and help them feel the energy of the cosmos, the principles of balance and unity in their bodies.

CLASSES
Programs being offered at the DahnMuDo center include Basic Class, Advanced Class and DahnMuDo Healing/Personal Training for those seeking a more customized program.

Something For Everyone!
The new Mesa center will be offering Basic and Advanced Training, as well as customized training sessions so that anyone, at any level, can experience the benefits of DahnMuDo.

Basic Class – also known as “Martial Arts meditation.Through basic DahnMuDo exercises, students will release stagnant energy from joints, begin to re-establish proper energy and blood circulation, and learn how to accumulate vital Ki energy within the body.

Advanced Class – Smaller groups will receive two hours per week of more intensive training. The ultimate goal is to pass the qualifications of Black Belt testing.

DahnMuDo Healing/Personal Training – Individual sessions can be customized for people seeking healing from injury, illness or other debilitating physical conditions. A senior trainer will work with you and guide you to achieve desired results.

Here are some pictures from the DahnMuDo School session I attended in March 2006. It was the first one and lasted 21 days! Taking the belt test: This is me focusing on my sword. Beautiful! After the test…we did it! More happy faces: We practiced traditional Korean drumming to get in touch with our inner rhythm. Here is one group doing a demonstration: We also practiced dancing to rhythmically move our bodies. Here is my group before the final dance contest: Everyone together at the end with the main trainer, Master Owoon, and our other trainer who taught us sword forms, Master Jang.
