Thousands attend Chicago’s Power of Meditation Event

November of this year, one thousand people attended the first Power of Meditation workshop at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center. Members of the Dahn Yoga community and the public came together to celebrate Chicago Dahn Yoga’s community achievement of 10,000 Earth Citizens in Chicago and the launching of Dahn Yoga USA’s nationwide tour.

During hte event a ChunBuShinGong demonstration was given by Chicago Dahn Masters and Dotong Gunjas. The Chicago Power Drumming Team also performed. This was followed by a rendition of Nella Fantasia by Kaori Williams.

Last, Ilchi Lee gave a lecture, starting with a video clip demonstrating the power of breathing and meditation. The group was then led through Jigam, Dahnmu and Brain Wave Vibration exercises.

Lee then spoke about the three powers all humans possess: the power of self-healing, the power of insight, and the power of creation through the process of fusion. The emphasis was on the fact that each human has an unlimited capacity and that they are only limited by their preconceptions.

Dahn Yoga exercise strengthens knees, ankles

As the days get longer and summer vacations roll around, you may be considering taking a run, a nature hike or just a long walk around your neighborhood to enjoy the change of seasons. In order to keep your knees and ankles strong, a new Dahn Yoga video explains how to stretch and energize the joints in your legs.

Dahn Yoga Video: Knee Strengtening Exercises

In it, an instructor notes that the knees are sensitive to repetitive stress, particularly if you suffer from joint pain or a nerve condition. By limbering up the legs and rebalancing one's Ki, or life force, hikes may be taken pain-free.

To start, says that narrator, rub your palms together until they feel warm. While standing, place them on bent knees and gently rotate your legs clockwise 10 times, then counterclockwise the same amount.

Afterward, the yoga instructor in the clip suggests doing something similar with your ankles. By placing one foot on tiptoe and rotating the ankle joint 10 times in either direction, you may be able to loosen the ligaments in it and potentially prevent sprains.

Body tapping puts physical energy back in balance

If you sit for more than a few hours each day, as many are likely to do at work, you may come home feeling stiff, sore, sluggish or listless. These feelings are often related to poor circulation, something that a recently released Dahn Yoga video  addresses in less than two minutes.

Dahn Yoga Video: Whole Body Tapping (Improved Circulation)

The clip, which is the latest in Dahn Yoga and Health Center's 2 Minute Tips instructional series, explains how to use a technique known as body tapping to improve the blood's circulation and to redistribute energy around the body.

The video's instructor explains a basic Whole Body Tapping routine, which he says can be completed every day in five minutes.

To implement the exercise, you start by using the fingertips to gently tap the head, face and neck, followed by using the palms to tap the chest, torso and arms. This easy routine gets one's blood flowing freely, releasing energy pent up by hours of inertia.

Such exercises may be important for health and well-being, since a recent study in the journal Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise found that the more an individual sits daily, the greater their risk of death, no matter how much aerobic exercise they get.

Dahn Yoga helps practitioners live with cancer treatments

Multiple studies have shown that Dahn Yoga benefits healthy individuals who want to improve their concentration, mood, or mental and physical well-being. However, these studies do not address the countless program members who say that Dahn Yoga has helped them or their loved ones deal with cancer or other serious illnesses.

A member at Illinois' Shaumberg Center notes that caring for her husband, who has metastatic prostate cancer, leaves her wrung out by the end of the day. Dahn Yoga lets her live happily from day to day.

"I have become more hopeful and positive, and [I] really try to radiate positive loving energies to those around me, despite of whatever negativities there are. The overall effect is peace and contentment," she said in an online testimonial.

Another Dahn Yoga member said that he took twice-monthly classes at a community center for cancer patients and caregivers. He noted that the regimen has helped him overcome injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Senior leads classes, stars in DVD for Dahn Yoga

She is a leader of numerous Dahn Yoga sessions, stars in a DVD produced by the Dahn Yoga community and funded by a hospital, engages in outreach programs and helps individuals of all ages feeler fitter and less stressed. Marion Goddard can seemingly do it all, and at 74, she shows little indication of slowing down.

A retiree and long-time Dahn Yoga member, Goddard is happy to help people of any background get into the habit of stretching, breathing deeply and reconnecting their bodies and minds. Her proactive commitment to the program belies her personality, which she described as introverted.

Nevertheless, Goddard has been a model yoga instructor for many members of her community, while somehow finding the time to write articles for local newspapers and to participate in a walking group.

Teaching yoga "is so meaningful because it helps you grow when you actively reach outside of your own social group and connect with diverse people," she said.

Goddard added that bringing yoga to others helped her break out of her shell, revealing stores of personal energy, compassion and happiness that she never knew she had.

Big news! Dahn Yoga and Health Centers turns 15

Headlines across the nation are reporting big Dahn Yoga news this month, as Dahn Yoga and Health Centers officially celebrates its 15th anniversary. Practitioners of the holistic mind-body system first joined together to form a company in 1996, and the program has been helping people regain their natural equilibria ever since.

While the official Dahn Yoga community is turning 15, the practice itself is based on ancient East Asian meditation methods, many of which are thousands of years old.

At its heart, the system consists of the physical and mental pursuit of peace and whole-being health, of the sort that many Western individuals hardly know exists.

By engaging in deep breathing, stretching, body tapping, tai chi and brain wave vibration – a form of moving meditation – individuals of all body types and backgrounds can shed the tension brought on by modern living and relax into a cool, ethereal sense of the pure self.

Dozens of Dahn Yoga centers exists nationwide, and those who are interested in taking classes need not worry about having a pre-existing yoga skill set. No matter what one’s familiarity with yoga and meditation, the system has classes and instructional videos to suit all needs.

One woman says Dahn Yoga helped treat her tinnitus

Individuals who suffer from nervous conditions, whether they are physiological or psychological, may consider taking yoga as part of a holistic healing plan. In a new Dahn Yoga video online, one member recently recounted how the program helped her overcome her tinnitus.

Dahn Yoga Video – Testimonial of Improved Hearing Through Dahn Yoga Exercises

Bettie Carroll-Wallace, a practitioner in Chicago, said that she initially lost part of the hearing in her right ear as a child. The event, as she recalled, occurred spontaneously when she was boarding a school bus.

Her hearing got worse, and the ringing in her ears became louder and more persistent after she spent time as a member of the U.S. Army, much of which involved subjecting her ears to the high-decibel sound of C-130 cargo planes taking off.

Carroll-Wallace said in the video that her life changed when she began Dahn Yoga. Through relaxation techniques, body tapping and brain wave vibration – a form of moving meditation – the veteran and mother said that her tinnitus receded, allowing her to hear from her right ear again.

While this result may be exceptional, many Dahn Yoga enthusiasts have reported positive health effects after spending some time in community-based classes.

Dahn Yoga classes improve outlook, well-being

In day-to-day existence, taking Dahn Yoga classes can mean the difference between a chronic lack of enthusiasm and a renewed zest for life. Many members report experiencing significant improvement in their mental, physical and spiritual well-being after even a few hours of experiencing Dahn Yoga basics.

In a monthly survey conducted by Dahn Yoga and Health Centers, a number of participants noted that Dahn Yoga's relaxation techniques and peaceful meditation often brings about a sense of serenity.

"I am more calm and less stressed," one practitioner wrote, adding "I am able to watch myself much better and control my emotions more before they take control of me."

"Emotionally, I have more patience, feel less anxious [and] have more compassion, more confidence, more joy in my heart," another Dahn Yoga member reported.

Pacification of the emotions is an important part of the discipline. By easing out daily tensions and releasing one's pent-up energy, a person may find themselves calmer and more self-aware than before. In this state of stillness, the mind and body may be reattached to one another.

Personal development can start at home, with Dahn Yoga DVDs

When the responsibilities of life seem unmanageable, Dahn Yoga DVDs may be able to help. It is with physical healing, mental centering and personal development that most yoga programs are concerned. Some are even available in the comfort of one's own home.

Even though it is helpful to practice with an experienced instructor initially, individuals who want to pursue spiritual tranquility can also do so at home, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette.

Yogi Jen Mulson wrote in the news source that a simple yoga routine can be performed at home at nearly any time of day or night, allowing individuals the freedom to grow and develop personally.

Using Dahn Yoga DVDs is one effective way to do this. Purchasing discs like Dahn Yoga for Beginners, Dahn Yoga Essentials and Dahn Yoga for Multiple Sclerosis and Similar Conditions allows the committed practitioner or curious beginner the latitude to try the discipline in the comfort of their living room.

By stretching, breathing deeply, posing and performing tapping and rubbing techniques, individuals may be able to manage their stress and grow a little in the process.
